William Castaldi

William Castaldi embarked on his trumpet studies under the tutelage of Gioacchino Giuliano, who served as principal trumpet of the Bellini Theatre in Catania.

He subsequently completed his studies at the Royal Academy of Aarhus, where he was mentored by Prof. Kristian Steenstrup.

 

Mr. Castaldi's exceptional talents have been recognized by M. Riccardo Muti, who selected him to become a member of the esteemed "Cherubini Orchestra."

 

Additionally, he has served as a member of the prestigious "Accademia della Scala Orchestra."

 

Throughout his career, he has collaborated with a number of national and international cultural institutions.

 

Mr. Castaldi has served as principal trumpet with numerous orchestras, including the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana in Palermo, the Orchestra del Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, the Orchestra Haydn di Bolzano e Trento, the Orchestra del Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, and the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome.

 

He has also performed as a guest solo trumpet with the Brussels Philharmonic, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, the Sinfonieorchestre von Vlaanderen, and the Flemish Opera in Ghent and Antwerp, as well as with the Rotterdam Philharmonic.

 

Mr. Castaldi has served as principal trumpet with the Goteborgs Opera Orchestra and the BBC NOW Orchestra based in Cardiff. Additionally, he has performed as a soloist, including his interpretation of the Weinberg Trumpet Concerto with the Brussels Philharmonic and the Brno Philharmonic. Mr. Castaldi recently performed the Italian Premiere of the Jean Rivier - Concerto for Saxophone, Trumpet and Orchestra with the Orchestra Vivaldi.

During his career, he has been playing under the prestigious conducting of Riccardo Muti, Riccardo Chailly, Donato Renzetti, Gianandrea Noseda, Gustavo Dudamel, Valery Gergiev, Lahav Shani, Danel Barenboim, V.Petrenko, Charles Dutoit, M.W.Chung and many more.

Since 2009, Mr. Castaldi has served as the artistic director of the International Music Masterclass & Festival held in Sicily.
